J.Cole started rapping at the age 13 when his cousin showed his basic rhyming and wordplay... Mostly inspired by legendary rappers Tupac Shakur and Nas.
You can tell from his mixtapes, The Come Up, The Warm Up and The Blow Up... That J. Cole has a love for story telling in his lyrics.
The mixtapes are full of soul filled sound beats, raw, energetic drums and an endless range of topics; everything from the carefree days of college to the seemingly endless plight of those have-nots scrapping for change
